Organic Sandalwood
Albania Australia Bulgaria Dominican Republic Ghana Madagascar Namibia Nepal Papua New Guinea Rwanda Somalia South AfricaWe are supporting a project in the Perth area of Western Australia, which is producing Organic Sandalwood Oil. This is a very large and long term project, with an area 3 times the size of France given over to cultivating Sandalwood trees. This would produce enough Sandalwood oil to fulfil the world demand for over 1000 years! This is without considering all the trees this project is planting to replace those cut down to produce oil.
The project involves 3 Aborigine tribes who directly benefit from this sustainable, traceable and certified Organic project.
Sandalwood is very unique in that even after the tree has fallen and died, it still retains an amount of oil in the wood. So even after several years a dead tree can still be distilled to produce the essential oil, which makes this project very sustainable.
This project is also looking at other local plants, which could be used to produce oils. One which has been very successful is Firetree oil. This tree grows wild all over Australia and produces a very rich and deep essential oil.
